Experience

Have you ever been involved in a situation where you suddenly felt overwhelmed?  Where your mind was racing to try and come up with an answer?

Most of us have, at some point in our lives, been in a situation like this.  When stress kicks in and we don’t know what to do.  Now what matters is how we deal with this situation, and how quickly we think through it.

Experience

I have been a police officer now for over 12 years and on one of the busiest SWAT teams in the country for the past 8 years.   The amount of situations I have been in , the things I have seen, these are all part of my experience.  These are all things that have shaped me as a man and as a police officer.

It is what has given the knowledge to start this business and share the information I have with you.

We all have experience, it just varies in the field.  My experience just happens to constantly involve stress, or stressful situations.  The interesting thing is that as we gain experience and knowledge, that stress starts to disapate.  Our ability to think and react in difficult sitauations improves greatly.

This is not just for police officers.  It is the same for firefighters, teachers, businessmen and women, doctors, all sorts of professionals.  I guarantee you if you ask any profession about a stressful time early on in their career, they can easily pick out.  However, I would also bet if the same situation arose at this point in their career, they would have the ablitiy to cope with it and work through it much more efficiently.

How Does This Apply?

So what does this have to do with safety, security, or awareness you are wondering?

Simple…these topics are not any different.  You must have experience in them. You must think about them.  You must practice them, so if and when that situation occurs you are able to fuction.

One of the best way to gain knowledge or experience is to think and visualize things.  Think about difficult situations.

What would you do if someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night?  Have you thougth about it?  Have you talked about it with your family? Do you have a plan?

This is how your become more prepared.  You need to talk things out with your family, think things through.

You must realize it is your responsiblity to keep them safe.  To keep yourself safe.

You can’t expect to perform at a high level if you don’t put the time in!  It is that simple.
